Security Guru Karsten Nohl to Lecture in NL on 12 June Bits&Chips HW Conference

14 May 2013

In embedded systems security is becoming more and more a hot topic. Often security is not seen as an important issue for embedded systems use. With sometimes dire consequences.

See the famous case for Onity locks. There is a vulnerability in Onity locks, a cheap lock used on millions of hotel room doors. Onity's site boasts their locks are used in 22,000 hotel worldwide.

That lock has a small port on its bottom designed for hotels to set master keys. You could read the lock's memory through this port, including a decryption key.

A 4 million room security issue! So, security is important!

Hear Karsten Nohl 12 june in NL talk on in-store payment terminals and their security issues.
