Mbed Breakout board USB B power consumption

03 Feb 2012

Hi guys,

I'm using my mbed with the 'Workshop breakout' which has a USB B port wired up to D+ and D- and ready to go. When I hook up my mbed (which is spitting gout MIDI instructions) to my iPad for on-the-go synthesizer fun I get told the mbed is trying to draw too much power from the iPad.

I have the mbed plugged into a different power source via the mini USB port, why is it trying to draw power via the USB B? Obviously I can negate this by plugging the mbed into a powered USB port, but I'd rather avoid that. Is there any way to prevent the mbed from trying to draw current from the USB B port on this board completely?

Thanks,

JP

Maybe this could do some tricks, turning off ethernet.... :-)
