max485 read datas problem

Hi,

       About max485,when use the funciton "printf" write data to slave,then use "scanf" read data from the slave, the problem is :it can only read 8 bytes data from the slave.(the true is the slave can return from 4 bytes to 30 bytes).

       Anyone can help me ?Thank you!
