Multiplexing SERIAL ports

since there are only 3 UART serial ports i need to multi plex one of them with 3 different devices. the range of the serial ports are TTL correct ?? 0-5 volts?so TTL multi plexer from ti for example would work fine correct??

The power and logic levels of the 1768/2368 mbed are 3.3v (but inputs are 5v tolerant). I haven't played with a mux for this application, but it sounds sensible. Someone else may have some experience here (i.e. i may be wrong). Please tell us if you manage to achieve it.

How is the multiplexer controlled? By hand or automatically. Is the Mbed the master?
