Compiler
can I download the compiler or do I always have to use it on line?

You have much more options, either to use online compiler or use the feature export. It allows you to export to different toolchains.
Based on your previous question, you posses KL25Z, means you can export to KEIL uVision. ARM GCC export will be added within days.
