Routing possible with mbed ??

07 Mar 2013

Hi

I need to working on my Master project that is to design a centralized system that communicate data between different devices in a building wirelessly. For this purpose i need to communicate between different mbed devices. As i have gone through the site i have found that mbed supports Zigbee (Xbee) but so far what i have find out is the communication between only two devices. is it possible with mbed to route data to multiple devices in a network (routing support ??).

I would appreciate if anyone can help me out in this matter

Thank You

Hi,

This is entirely possible as I have a project from about a yar ago that was routing sensor data from a number of wireless nodes through the mbed and out to a number of destinations including Cosm, open sense and mqtt broker.

Hi, I also started investigating this yesterday for a future application and on the DesignSpark web page found this post: http://www.designspark.com/eng/knowledge-item/new-to-the-easyradio-range-eric-the-easyradio-integrated-controller-video

which linked to LPRS

and I started looking at http://www.lprs.co.uk/wireless/mesh-networks.html

I may have been sold by the advertising line "...low cost, low power, reduced data rate, reliable and easy to use wireless network connectivity"! But it is on my list to study this range. If you investigate, please post your findings, whatever manufacturers products you select.

Thanks

Hi!

You can have a look here http://mbed.org/users/charly/notebook/rfm22/

- The modules are cheap - The software is a port from Arduino and supports routing and mesh - I didn't test mesh but it should work

Depending on your needs this could be a cheap and fast solution.

thank you Karl and Andrew. these links seem really helpful. I will look into them asap. (sorry, I was away on a trip and didnt reply earlier).

Just as a quick check, there is no mbed support then for the xbee modules right?
