Not recognising hardware correctly.

Driver is listed as ver 16466, latest firmware 16457 are these related?

ETA: WinXP Service pack3, up to date etc.

Hi Andrew,

Sorry it isn't working for you. Lets see if we can diagnose the problem...

When you say it is not recognising the hardware properly, what exactly do you mean?

  • Is the basic mbed USB drive visible and working (I assume so)
  • When you run the installer, does it try to install the driver or say it can't find your mbed?
  • What are the driver steps that succeed/fail? Is it our installer failing, or a windows "bubble"?
  • When you run the installer, instead of clicking to run is there a right-click "run as..." option to run as administrator? (should be automatic, but just a thought)
  • Can you test it on another machine?

We should be able to track it down, and it'd be useful to understand in case anyone else might see the same problem.

Those are both the latest versions, so you are fine there.

This is what windows is telling me.

1. yes device is connected and reporting as USB drive.

2. It did initially because I didn't have it connected when I first started installing.

3. The driver installer itself didn't report any errors, but the 'windows hardware installer' if thats the correct term, reported problems installing your device.

4. Have uninstalled and reinstalled several times with the same result, my account on the pc is an admin account (XP)

5. I have several pc's will give it a try. Is it Windows 7 compatible?

Is there a need to reboot?

It does work here on Windows 7, at least for x64 version.

It appears I failed to follow the instructions correctly, 'no explorer windows open'
