MBed USB question

25 Feb 2010

The mbed has USB data ports on 31 and 32. can these pins be used instead of the usb socket?  im trying to break out the usb to the side of a case.

thanks, martin.

The D+/D- pins are for USB communication by a program that you can write and program inside the module. It cannot replace the board's mini-USB socket for power, mass storage/programming and serial communication purposes.

Thanks for that, do you know if the IF pins would allow it?

Hi Martin,

I'm not sure if this is what your after, but I did a notebook page on how to comunicate vis USB without using the mbed port. It can be found here http://mbed.org/users/ms523/notebook/mbed-usb-breakout/

Hope this helps

Hi Martin

Simon explains about the IF pins here. It might be what you are after if you want to breakout the mbed mini-USB rather than pins 31 and 32 which are programmed separately as Igor suggests.
