More Analog Inputs

09 Jan 2012

I'm looking at a project where I will need more than 6 analog inputs. It would be great if I could do that with one board but as the MBED has 'only' 6 inputs what options do I have? Are there ways to multiplex or use an external solution?

Thanks!

I would use an external Analog to Digital convert chip that communicates with the MBED over SPI or I2C. There are many chip choices on the market with varying ranges of channels, resolutions, etc. It depends on your project needs..

Here is a Microchip MCP3002 2 Channel AtoD that has a SPI interface...

depending on the speed you need you could use the good old CMOS 4051/4052/4053 analog multiplexers
