Ideas for mbed design contest
Window Covering Automation for TV room.
The idea is to build a drive system for Blinds and window coverings. The inspiration for this was that annoing white strip of light reflecting off the TV from windows around the room. It seems so trivial but when it hurts getting up and down this actually stands to improve the quality of life. (hurting less is good right?)
Another benefit of the system is efficiency. For instance automation of the closing and opening of blinds to reflect heat , on a time based or sensor based loop. But any way enough of why I think its worth the time to do. On to the idea.
Stepper or motors with position sensing (probably not steppers in the end due to noise but I may use it because I have it on hand)
IR remote controlling for manual over ride of automated systems
Light to frequency sensors at the tv to identify the offending window.
Micro sd / sd interface for storing automation profiles
Temperature and or light sensors at each unit for efficiency automation.
Possible web interface to change settings when your out .
