FRDM-KL25Z & Windows 10 problems

Hello, I'm having trouble with the FRDM-KL25Z boards and Windows 10. The boards are detected via the SDA connector and is enumerated as a COM port but the connection is lost as soon as I try and download a program. The same applies when trying to update the firmware. I was able to borrow a computer with XP and the boards work ok, so the problem appears to be with Windows 10 and the SDA. Any ideas on how I can get the boards working under Windows 10? Thanks, Ralph

Note: Windows driver is 2.0.2.0 24-Aug-09

Did you install the mbed firmware? (So it appears as mbed in your file explorer). If yes, you can try doing it from a W7 or before PC. I am not sure if they are already shipping them with correct bootloader.

However the COM port is supposed to get lost when you download a program. Afterwards you can reconnect to it again.

Hello, Check that you disable automatic execution of open folders on USB device or better dsable all automatic execution. I have had to do this _every_ Win10 updates. Amicalement

Thanks for your comments Erik & Gerard. I've installed the firmware so the board appears as mbed in file explorer on an old XP machine and it works fine on that machine. When I then plug the same board to the Windows 10 computer it also appears as mbed in file explorer but when I download a program the board dismounts. I've checked that DEP is disabled for everything except essential Windows programs and services (which can't be disabled as far as I can tell) Since posting my initial request for help I've obtained a fresh FRDM board and when I plug that into the Windows 10 computer is appears as FRDM-KL25Z in file explorer and works perfectly. It seems that downloading the mbed firmware is the source of the trouble! I can't prove this without restoring my non-working board with factory firmware. Can I download this from somewhere to confirm my suspicions? Also the fresh, working board no longer appears as a COM port in device manager, it is now shown under 'other devices' as 'PEMicro/Freescale - CDC Serial Port' with an exclamation mark (!) indicating the correct drivers have not been installed. All very strange... Do I need to install the mbed firmware if the factory firmware works? Regards, Ralph
