A note which may be of interest - some people have wondered why the points form a 'tower' above some major cities.

The reason for the towers is that many people set their location as the name of a city eg 'tokyo', which leaves many data points on top of the exact same spot (the centre of the place in question).

To make it clear that there's more than one person there, I offset any overlapping GPS coordinates by the equivalent of two hundred meters or so on the ground, which arranges many previously overlapping points into a long string of points. Could have been done in many ways but this way at least gives you an idea of numbers even when zoomed out.

Nice map, I updated my profile yesterday, in my profile I can see the tag at my place on the map but when I enter the map with the link below the map (The mbed world map)I do not see my location in that map. So has mbed a problem in updating a database ?

" Not on the map? Just complete your mbed profile and you should appear on the mbed map within a day. "

The map will refresh every night starting from today.
