CMSIS-DAP and Flash from usb flash drive

I successfully upgraded one of my mbed (lpc1768) to the cmsis-dap enabled version and managed to get the debugging going in LPCXpresso (after fiddling around with the red-link server settings, where it seems it works if you get a dialog where auto-detection is offered).
When debugging the program, LPCXpresso nicely downloads the program into flash program memory.
But after this upgrade, copying new programs (bin file) onto the USB Flash drive and pressing the flash/reset button no longer seems to work. Is this normal or am I missing something?
ps I have not tried sending BREAK over the serial port to initiate flashing.
