MiniNote with smaller connector

Which Connector

Because MiniNote uses a 2.1" EPD as its display, its demision is quite small.

  • Width: 6570mm
  • Height: 30mm
  • Thickness: 57mm

In order to develop a complex product family, we have planned many micro shields. But which connectors should be used to connect shields and MiniNote?

Pin Header

In OSH and Maker market, pin header are heavily used. The regular pin headers are 100mil (aka 2.54mm) or 50mil (aka 1.27mm), or 2mm pitch. No matther which pitch is used, the height is quite high which makes products' thickness far more than our expectation.

Pogo Pins

FPC

The FPC connectors are widely used in portable devices like mobile phones and pads. Even our EPD panel uses FPC connector to connect to our MiniNote PCB.

However it is more suitable for permenant mounting between FPC cables and boards. If we use it in connecting boards, it may introduce extra cost for cables and connectors.

B2B Connector

At last, we pick B2B connector from MOLEX, its slimstack has 1.5mm height, which makes it ideal in connecting shields to MiniNote.
