Components you can always make and manually add to the components page.

Platforms you can always add to the mbed github, I think those are pretty much always accepted. Only to have it available in the online compiler it needs to meet some requirements. (I am not mbed staff, and don't know what they currently have exactly, but it will be something like that there needs to be a development board which supports drag and drop programming, and I think also from a silicon manufacturer they have relations with, so Nordic, NXP, STM or Freescale, although not sure if that requirement still stands).

Thanks for your feedback, Firstly, I need to correct the question.. should read; I would like.. ! I need to obtain a system overview on firmware requirements from silicon vendors and Mbed etc. Is there information available online ?

In that case a good place to get started is here: https://mbed.org/handbook/mbed-SDK-porting and https://mbed.org/handbook/mbed-tools. Besides that just look at code of other targets.
