require nRF51822 USB dongle?

For evaluation of the nRF51822 mkit, do we require the nRF51822 USB Dongle? Does this dongle come along with the mkit or needs to be purchased separately?

Question relating to:

Bluetooth Low Energy (a.k.a Bluetooth LE, BTLE, Bluetooth Smart)

No, USB Dongle is not required for using nRF51822-mkit. Yes, you do need other device to talk to. You can use iPhone or Android 4.3 (with phone that support BT4.0). Nordic has a free app on both of these platform for testing purpose. There are many options (including the usb dongle) for these, it is depend on what you want to do for your project..

As far as I know, nRF51822 USB Dongle is not sold separately. You need to buy nRF51822-DK or nRF5188-EK that include the dongle. As an advantage, you can use it as a BLE sniffer for your project. (Although you can also use TI's usb dongle for that. TI's dongle can be purchase separately)

Thanks a lot Devsar for clearing this up. You are right, as I did not find the dongle being sold separately other than along with the nRF51822-DK.

nRF Toolbox support well known profiles. If you create your own profile (services, characteristics), the following should be more suitable: nRF Master Control Panel: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=no.nordicsemi.android.mcp

If you use iPhone, I recommend to use LightBlue. (search "lightblue" on AppStore).
