mbed-BoB

Just a few short notes about the Break out Board (BoB) I've recently put together for the mbed microcontroller. See picture below (click for bigger pic) :

This was based on the original caputure which can be found at :

In the end, it boiled down to two rules to observe

  • We're not trying to break out any other ICs or parts, just providing connectivity
  • We only want to add connectors that will not interfere with the pins if they are not in use

This meant all the bluetooth, zigbee, speaker etc wasn't really appropriate, and connectors that require filter/driver circuits were also out.

The feature set we have is a good compromise.

Features

  • mbed socket
  • Ethernet socket
  • USB Socket
  • MicroSD card socket
  • 2 push buttons

  • 6 PWM + Power headers
  • 12mm Coin cell holder
  • 4xAA battery box
  • 2.1mm DC Jack socket
  • Power Over Ethernet support
  • 2x5 header exposing all 5 power sources
  • Polyfuse protection
  • Power switch
