mbed NXP LPC1768 Development board and LPCXpresso debug

02 Sep 2014

I just received an mbed NXP LPC1768 development board and corresponding base board. To my surprise and disappointment, it is apparently not compatible with the LPC-Link emulator debugging environment of LPCXpresso. That makes it fairly useless to me. I've found any number of forum posts that talk about exporting mbed projects to LPCXpresso, but so far nothing about setting up the debug environment.

Examination of the schematic reveals a chip called the MBED-IF01 that is apparently an "interface" chip. It has a set of signals that look suspiciously like a JTAG port and in fact they're connected to the JTAG pins of the LPC1778. This would imply that it should be possible to make the board compatible with LPCXpresso. Does anyone know how to do that?
